The village of Hastings on Hudson is situated along the Hudson River facing the Palisades Cliffs. Hastings is approximately 2.9 square miles. Frederick Philipse, a Dutch carpenter, traded with the Weckquaesgeek Native Americans for the land that is now known as Dobbs Ferry and Hastings on Hudson in 1682. The Village is part of the Town of Greenburgh.
There are approximately 7,700 residents of Hastings on Hudson based upon the most recent census. The village has several public recreational facilities, including the Chemka Pool, an outdoor public swimming facility, and Hillside Woods, which offers many trails for biking and hiking. Presently, TV anchor Keith Olbermann resides in the village.
