The City of Rye, New York is the home of the only native born founding father, John Jay. Jay was also the first chief justice of the U.S. Supreme Court. The mansion where Jay grew up is a national historic landmark with the first Westchester County landmark to have a geothermal heating and cooling system. Also of note in Rye are the milestones fixed by Benjamin Franklin on Boston Post Road in 1763 to mark 24, 25 and 26 miles from New York City.

Rye is 20 square miles, of which 14.2 miles are water. The city has a population of almost 15,000 residents. The City of Rye is the home of Rye Playland, an amusement park with one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the northeast, the "Dragon Coaster." Movies like "Big" and "Fatal Attraction" filmed scenes at Rye Playland. Well known residents of the city are Mike D'Antoni, head coach of the New York Knicks, Bob Woodruff, the television journalist, and Ralph Branca, the Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher who threw the famous home run pitch to Bobby Thomson of the New York Giants in the 1951 playoffs that sent the Giants to the World Series.
